Things that help
Beauty staples, fall favorites, and what I'm reading and watching right now.
Life lately feels like a mix: some parts moving beautifully, others still challenging. That’s life, no? I try to be a glass-half-full girl, but I also know I get in my own way. What helps is prioritizing the little things, like grabbing special coffee beans, getting lost in a good book or film, and leaning into whatever makes my days feel sweeter.
I’m not here to say products fix everything, but I do believe certain things can help — and that it’s worth leaning into whatever brings you joy, big or small. Here are a few everyday staples I’ve been loving, plus what I’m reading, watching, and eyeing for this season ahead.
In rotation
These are the things I reach for without thinking, the ones I absolutely have on subscription (because, efficiency!). Full lineup here.
I’m a big Crown Affair girl, and this new-to-me product is a keeper. It gives my hair that squeaky-clean, salon-wash feeling, and the packaging is simple and chic.
Oak Essentials Perfecting Body Scrub
Gifted, but officially in the rotation. It makes my skin feel super soft. It can turn a quick shower (or bath) into something that feels all the more luxurious. It’s lovely.
One I’ve used for years and always come back to. My skin drinks it up, especially now, and the scent is subtle but grounding.
Necessaire Body Wash in Santal
If there were a perfect fall scent for me, this would be it: sandalwood, black pepper, jasmine. The eucalyptus wash is another go-to. Fresh and clean.
Lately i’ve loved
Aka all the things I’ve been consuming, watching, and listening to (pure comfort).
Totally worth the hype. The perfect book to get lost in over a weekend — I only stretched it out because I wanted to savor it. That good.
Gilmore Girls
Early to the game or not (apparently everyone re-watches GG in the fall), Lorelai and Rory are perfect background company while I’m building newsletters like this.
Ali LaBelle x Valsa Home Cereal Bowl
The kind of bowl that makes oatmeal, soup, or even a late-night snack feel a little elevated. I adore it! Congrats again to Ali LaBelle on this beautiful collaboration.
Canyon Coffee Beachwood Espresso Beans
The beans I buy most often. Their brick & mortar is a vibe too if you’re in LA.
All of You on Apple TV+
A love story set in the UK with Imogen Poots and Brett Goldstein. Made me cry (more than once).
Isla Beauty’s Washing Faces series
This is such a fun little series with Tracy Dubb — I’ve even learned how to actually wash my face/double cleanse. It’s the perfect late-night comfort watch.
Maison Louie Marie Candles No. 04 and No. 13
I’ll never stop talking about these. Especially No. 04 (sandalwood, vetiver, amber) and No. 13 (fig, tonka, muguet). Perfect for gifting or keeping all to yourself.
Still fascinated by her arc — a study in perseverance and authenticity. A bit more salacious than I expected, too.
Reading on substack
I started a new TikTok series recently where I share Substack posts I’m loving (one even took off a bit, which was fun!). A few recent favorites worth your time:
Should You Just Move to the Countryside & Make Your Art? by Katie McKnoulty
Routines are actually rituals of devotion to yourself by Laura Jung
On my fall wishlist
LA is still in the 70s, but my moodboard has certainly moved into fall. Suede sneakers, wide brown pants, a classic cap. See everything I’m saving here. For starters:
Would be so cute layered with a long-sleeved tank underneath.
I would absolutely live in these. Honestly, that feels like reason enough to get them.
Negative Underwear Track Pant + Espresso Henley Tee
Would happily live in these, too. Worth buying for that reason alone (girl math).
I’ll leave you with this
